Do you guys think there will be ton of people who bought BRZ/FRS coming over to the miata?
Will it just be old ladies who arent quite at the gold jewlery with orange skin buying them?
Or old bald guys?
Personally I think it will be a mix and can see and hope that a lot of toyobaru twin drivers will have seen the benefit of a light RWD car and might go over the Miata.

Miata enthusiasts and previous solstice/sky owners are who I could see buying them.

Nah. The ND will be bought mainly by guys in their 50’s who had an NA when they were in their 30’s.
Orange skinned old ladies all drive SC430 convertibles now, and the BRZ guys bought those cars because they want a roof and the “4 seater” discount on insurance.

Most popular MX5 owners in order:
Old people who want to relive their youth.
Young people who can’t afford an Audi TT.
Mid life crisis people.
Enthusiasts.

I’m with djmt1 on this. His list and order are pretty spot on.

Lots of old dudes. I’m expecting to see these filling up autocross grids soon

Everyone.
By Jalopnik logic, the Miata is the perfect car for everyone: hairdressers, students, construction workers, NBA stars, as a replacement for mine dump trucks, the military, race car drivers, senior citizens, heads of state, gardeners, car show hosts, storm chasers, police and other first responders, package carrier companies, etc.

It’s like the macgyver/macgruber of cars.

Initially it’ll be older dudes with the capability of finally getting a car for the sole purpose of having fun. That’s even how they’re marketing it. That Aaron Paul commercial says basically “buy this Miata to remind you of when you were you” (you know, before you had a family and kids and stuff)

I’d say a lot depends on their loan balance. Wonder if the BRZ/FRS holds its value or goes off a cliff.

Hopefully it will check normal Miata boxes and hit the same market (Sweet sixteeners, Mid-life-crisisers, hairdressers and Jalops) while also expanding a bit thanks to a way nicer interior and more striking looks. I can see someone who doesn't care too much about badge but wants a nice roadster dropping their Z4 lease to buy an ND.

Too bad the FRS/BRZ isn’t available with a sunroof.

Holding its value so far.

As a guy who already barely fits in the BRZ... say no to sunroofs. I didn’t get a WRX mostly because I’d have to crane my neck over to drive it. Test drove an STI (no sunroof) and had plenty of headroom. Sunroofs are a scam.

That’s good. And can you imagine? In 15 years we’ll all still be here, and we’ll be complaining about how hard it is to find a BRZ that’s stock, unmodified, not lowered, without a blown engine ... fill in the blank.
